governance & economic development

Our Governance and Economic Development directorate helps to build on the success of existing local firms and attract new employers. Its purpose is to contribute new jobs to the process of building a complete community, where residents can live, work, access services and enjoy recreation without leaving the municipality.

Civic Administration is responsible for delivering quality customer service and ensuring Council meets its statutory, governance and organisational functions.

Human Resources, including Payroll, works hard to secure and retain a healthy workforce, and provides advice and support to managers and staff on recruitment, training and the development of our people.

Local Laws manages and controls the physical amenity of the municipality including:

  • animal management
  • fire prevention
  • litter control
  • parking
  • school crossing operations and safety
  • various permit schemes

Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre (PRACC) hosts a number of performing arts, social functions, wedding receptions and corporate events each year, and provides live theatre entertainment for the local community.

Economic Development is responsible for initiatives to attract new industries into the region and helping local businesses to grow through education and skills development.

Procurement provides the following functions:

  • operates a centralised tendering service for the organisation
  • provides advice in relation to tendering and contracting, including standard documentation, procedures and tools relating to procurement
  • assists with establishing financial and performance monitoring systems for major service contracts
