Our Infrastructure and Technology directorate provides a range of infrastructure services to the community and technology-based systems to internal business units. It also implements innovation projects internally and externally.
Development Engineering is responsible for providing civil engineering services in the area of infrastructure planning, for new developments in growth and established areas. They assess and approve designs and construction of infrastructure works in new developments - in accordance with statutory regulations and Council’s policies - and coordinate the planning and construction approval process.
Engineering and Transportation Services is responsible for:
- managing and protecting Council's road and drainage infrastructure assets
- designing and supervising new works
- supervising the construction of new subdivisional works
- providing a safe and efficient traffic, road, public transport and parking system for existing and future communities
- providing traffic engineering services for growth and established areas
Facilities Management is responsible for maintaining Council facilities in a strategic and customer-focused manner, to ensure facilities are fit for purpose and enable the delivery of building-based services to the Whittlesea community.
Infrastructure is responsible for managing the following:
- fleet management and maintenance
- road maintenance and cleansing
- waste and recycling services management
- educating the community about waste minimisation
Information Technology (IT) includes network operations, business systems, systems development, helpdesk support, training, Geographic Information System (GIS), Global Positioning System (GPS) and mobile computing.
Parks and Open Space is responsible for open space planning, planning referrals and landscape approvals, and the maintenance, management, planning and development of:
- parks
- sporting reserves
- streetscapes
- environmental and conservation reserves
- landscaping
Golf Course Operations is responsible for the maintenance and operations of the Growling Frog Golf Course, which is owned by the City of Whittlesea.
