Projects
The great thing about local government workplaces is that there are so many other professions to collaborate and network with, that you’re bound to make life-long colleagues, learn new tricks, find a niche for yourself or even go somewhere unexpected.
There are many and varied projects to get involved in, which means having the opportunity and freedom to get things done, quickly expanding your horizons, fast-tracking your experience, and getting the edge only a council workplace can give you.
Just some of the many exciting projects our staff across the organisation are involved in include:
- the recent redevelopment of Westfield Plenty Valley Shopping Centre in South Morang;
- the relocation of the Melbourne Wholesale Markets to Epping;
- the development, operation and marketing of the award-winning Growling Frog Golf Course in Yan Yean;
- the Epping Transit City Project which will integrate and improve transport and land use needs in Epping;
- the development and operation of a new and exciting Youth Centre in South Morang – a centre by Youth for Youth, and;
- the $20 million redevelopment of the Thomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre.
People
We couldn’t list all the professions and experts you’ll be working with, but here are just a few – planners, engineers, business analysts, administrative officers, environmental
health officers, building inspectors, accountants, event organisers, communicators, property valuers, sustainability officers, geographical information systems experts, IT professionals, maternal & child health nurses – and the list goes on.
Teamwork counts – and together all of these professions make the City of Whittlesea a great experience for its residents, businesses and workers.
The Council has a workforce of approximately 700, but with a projected municipal growth rate of almost 350 new residents per month over the next five years, opportunities to work at Whittlesea are growing in leaps and bounds.
