Our Finance and Organisation Improvement directorate monitors, manages, researches, reports and provides advice to Council on all financial and organisational matters, o enable us to meet our commitments to the community.

Financial Services provides information and support for all aspects of revenue raising and management, including:

  • debtors
  • rates
  • accounts payable

Property and Valuations is primarily responsible for conducting statutory valuations on a range of industrial, commercial and residential properties across the municipality. The main purpose of these valuations is to calculate the cost of rates.

Organisation Improvement reviews internal processes to identify opportunities for improved business efficiency. Organisation Improvement is responsible for conducting internal business process reviews and implementing improvements; establishing operational and management reporting to measure the efficiency, and internal research in best practice and continuous improvement opportunities.

WorkSMART promotes continuous improvement, strategic corporate planning and performance monitoring throughout the organisation. Together with strategic asset management, WorkSMART aims to deliver better work processes for staff.

Risk Management ensures the health and safety of staff and the community, and manages insurances.

This unit coordinates the development and implementation of policies and procedures to address potential sources of risk, such as:dealing with ratepayers, contractors and the public in general:

  • public liability
  • professional indemnity
  • occupational health and safety
  • personal injury claims relating to work place injuries and illness
  • assisting with the return to work of injured employees
