values & behaviour

The City of Whittlesea is a progressive and vibrant place to work. We deliver almost 100 services to the local community, and that number is set to expand as we enter an exciting phase of growth.

The way each of us behaves at work determines how effective we are as an Communicating with the culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community organisation, and how well we will manage this period of expansion.

Thanks to the input of staff throughout the organisation we have adopted a set of shared staff values and some example behaviours needed to achieve them.

The five values are:

  • Excellence
  • Wellbeing
  • Valuing diversity
  • Respect
  • Open communication

Excellence

We have developed a strong reputation for excellence in forward planning, customer service and for creating new and innovative ways to deliver quality outcomes. At the City of Whittlesea, we also pride ourselves on providing staff with opportunities to work on a diversity of projects from conception through to fruition.

Wellbeing

At the City of Whittlesea we are committed to staff wellbeing. An extensive health and wellbeing program has been developed for staff. Each year, this award-winning program gets bigger and better. As part of this we have a health and wellbeing calendar of events, numerous training opportunities and a mentoring program.

Valuing diversity

A diverse workforce brings tremendous benefits to our organisation. It is core to our organisation’s success and ensures we reflect the many facets of our community and respond to them accordingly.

Respect

Respect should be key to all our interactions with others. Respect is crucial to create an organisation that instils staff with a sense of pride and establishes an atmosphere of enjoyment.

Open communication

Open communication is vital for a highly effective organisation. It impacts how each and everyone of us works. The City of Whittlesea aims to ensure we practice effective and constructive communication, both internally and externally.
