Our Community Services and Health related departments are responsible for an extensive range of activities that support the community from babies to seniors.

The City of Whittlesea’s Health and Aged Services department is responsible for a variety of services including public health, immunisation and health promotion, through to aged care support, senior’s programs and disability and access support.

Our Family Services department supports and coordinates a range of early years programs and facilities, along with programs and support for youth.

Our Leisure Services and Planning department supports and manages the development of quality leisure facilities and programs in established and developing areas within the municipality.

Our Arts and Cultural Development department provides a range of community and cultural programs in the arts, heritage and events.

Why work for us?

As a municipality facing the complex and distinctive challenge of balancing the dynamics of urban areas, rural areas, rapid growth, social disadvantage and high demand for services, it offers unique opportunities to work on a range of innovative projects in a progressive environment. The City is also one of the most culturally and economically diverse areas of metropolitan Melbourne providing exposure to a range of interesting people.

Key projects

Key projects that our leisure planners and family services teams have worked on include advocacy and development of state-of-the-art facilities, including the redevelopment of the Thomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre, laying of synthetic turf at sports reserves and multifunction early years facilities in new development areas.

Key projects that our health team has worked on include the recent development of Westfield Plenty Valley and the soon to be relocated Melbourne Wholesale Markets.

A key project that our heritage officers are working on is the development of the Cultural Heritage Trail with our strategic planners and Heritage Victoria.
