The Economic Development unit is responsible for initiatives to attract new industries into the region and helping local businesses to grow through education and skills development.

With close to 50 new residents calling the City of Whittlesea home each week, stimulating local job opportunities is a priority for Council. In fact, our goal is to create one new job for every household in the municipality. With the creation of three major employment precincts forecast to generate over 30,000 local jobs, we are exceeding our goals.

Key projects

Some of the key projects that you may find yourself working on include business training and networking programs, youth employment initiatives, the food cluster program or the innovative herbal medicine project.

We need people who enjoy working with local business, both big and small, as well as State Government agencies and service providers. We want employees with enthusiasm and creativity to work with local business to strengthen our business environment and foster relationships with our partners.
