Sarah Loh
Position - Team Leader Leisure Facilities
Department - Leisure Services & Planning
Directorate – Community Services
When it comes to creating the best leisure and recreation services possible for Whittlesea residents, Sarah is on the ball.
As Team Leader of Leisure Facilities, Sarah’s role involves contract management for Council's major recreation and aquatic centres, and managing a team that oversees Council's other leisure facilities including Community Activity Centres, neighbourhood houses, community halls, community buses and sports facilities.
With a 20-year background in the fitness industry, Sarah has always enjoyed an active lifestyle and worked to promote it to others. She loves that she has been able to convert the things she enjoys doing into a successful career.
"My job reflects my passion for sports and fitness. One of the best things is being part of getting the community involved in recreation and staying active, as well as developing the existing facilities and creating new ones. Being guided by my dreams and what I enjoy makes me feel like I am doing more than just a job."
"Currently I am working on the redevelopment project at the Thomastown Recreation & Aquatic Centre, an enormous Council project. The redevelopment will cost over $20 million and will provide a state-of-the-art facility for residents incorporating health club-gym, group exercise, child care facilities, cafe, outdoor recreation as well as hydro, play and lap swimming pools among other benefits.
"I like working on projects that are exciting and involve the community at a fairly strategic level. I like to know that you can influence some sort of change and improve people’s quality of life."
