Vacant positions are advertised on this website and in appropriate media such as:

  • Newspapers such as the Whittlesea Leader, Diamond Valley Leader and The Age

Each position advertisement includes a Contact Officer who can answer any queries you have about the position. You must read the position description before calling the Contact Officer.

Sending your application

You must submit your application online by 11.55pm on the due date in the advertisement. The online application form can be accessed at the bottom of each individual job advertisement on the job search page.

Once you apply, we will email you to confirm that we have received your application, and that you are being considered for the advertised position.

Note: Applications that are late and/or do not address the key selection criteria may not be considered.

Processing of applications

All applications will be processed and considered equally.

Successful applications

Applicants who are deemed suitable against the selection criteria may be short-listed and contacted for an interview. See the Interview Tips page for hints on how to prepare for the interview.

The selection process may take between two to four weeks depending on circumstances and availability, and may involve testing. Referee checking will be conducted for preferred candidates. Applicants who are offered a position may need to undertake a:

  • medical exam
  • Police Records Check
  • Working With Children Check

The results of these checks must be deemed acceptable by the City of Whittlesea.
